Integrated Debugging

HEW provides a common debu g environment that lets

you connect to multiple tar g ets ( simulato r , on-chip

debugge r or full in-ci r cuit emulato r ) from the same workspace

and presents a consistent set of debu gg in g views irrespective of

the debu g tar g et you are usin g .

A simple S ession Wiza r d lets you easily add a new debu g tar g et

to an existin g workspace. As well as standard source/assembly,

watchpoints, locals, memory and stack trace views, HEW

supports advanced debu gg in g features such as b r anch/bus t r ace

and complex events.

Te s t Environment

Automated testin g options in HEW feature TCL

sc r ipting and recordable mac r os , which may be run to

duplicate a set of actions. This is further enhanced by the Test

Suite feature that allows you to record the output of the macro

operation and later perform a differences analysis between the

current and stored results.

HEW ’ s advanced analysis tools let you optimize your

application code with features such as Code P r ofiling,

Pe r fo r mance Analysis, S tack Analysis and g raphical Map View.

H 8 StarterKit Plus [SKP...] & Renesas Starter Kits [RSK...]

Renesas ’ low-cost Starter Kits (RSKs) and

StarterKit P lus (SK P s) are inexpensive ways

to experience the performance of H8

microcontrollers. These kits bundle a

low-cost tar g et board with the on-chip debu g

emulator and the evaluation version of the

HEW I D E to offer an inte g rated evaluation

and development platform that lets you g et up

and runnin g quickly with the H8 family.

Each kit comes complete with board and a

C D -ROM that contains:

? Evaluation ve r sion of HEW

(High-pe r fo r mance Embedded

Wo r kshop) and C/C++ compile r s

? Flash Development Toolkit (FDT)

The C D included also has a quick-start g uide

that shows how to install the software

and contains full documentation, plus a

P roject Generator HEW plu g -in for tutorials

and peripheral sample code.

The E8a emulator provides a foolproof

connection to the host I D E and can also

power the tar g et board without the need for

an external power supply.

RSK2 Starter Kits for H8S & H8SX devices

include a special version of the E10A-USB on-

chip debu g emulator for debu gg in g via the

JTAG [H-U D I] debu g port.
